Having an unexpected dental emergency near Balwyn? We are here for you.
There is no telling when you might be faced with a dental emergency, and hence, it is always better to be prepared with the right information beforehand. Finding the right emergency dentist near Balwyn is a good start.
The dentists at Syndal Dentistry are experienced in taking care of any dental emergency that might arise. We can help ease the pain promptly, and provide emergency care until a more permanent treatment is done.
Types of Dental Emergencies
- Chipped / Broken Teeth
- Severe Toothache
- Trauma, due to accidents or injuries
- Abscess in the gum
- Broken Dentures
- Loss of crown/veneer
- Bleeding in the mouth
Some dental conditions will need to be tackled more urgently than others, and these may include:
- Facial Swelling: This could come with other symptoms such as tooth pain, and trouble opening your jaw wide. However, if you are experiencing trouble breathing, please immediately call 000 or present to the emergency department of a hospital, as this could be potentially life-threatening.
- Trauma to the face, including knocked teeth, teeth that have fallen out, either fully or partially
What happens if your tooth has been knocked out completely?
Time is of the essence for a completely knocked out, or ‘avulsed’ tooth - in many cases, the tooth can be saved if you are able to visit our emergency dentist near Balwyn within the hour of it being knocked out. To book an emergency appointment, please call us on (03) 9069 3266 right away.
If you aren’t able to reach us that soon, you could try to position the tooth back in yourself, by gently wiping the tooth root and holding it by its crown while you place it in its socket. If this seems difficult, then you could place the tooth in a container of full-fat milk (not water!) and reach our clinic at the earliest. We will try to place back the tooth in its rightful place, and help save the tooth.
It is however important to note that knocked-out baby teeth should not be placed back in the mouth.
We urge you to call us as soon as possible if you have a dental emergency for a prioritised emergency appointment. The emergency dentists in our Balwyn clinic go all out to see patients in pain usually on the same day, or within 24 hours. Our first course of action during an emergency would be to relieve acute pain and discomfort before a follow-up treatment can be scheduled for a more comprehensive treatment. We also open late nights on Thursdays for more convenience when booking these appointments.
