Three ways to enhance your smile
Every smile is beautiful. There is no doubt about it.
But yet, there are many who hesitate to smile freely, on account of perceived imperfections in their smile. Whether it be stained, discoloured or crooked teeth, or even chipping and gaps in between, there are many reasons that can come in the way of an uninhibited smile. And here is where our cosmetic dentists in Mount Waverley can help.
3 common cosmetic procedures we offer:
1. Teeth Whitening
Tooth discolouration is very common, and so is this procedure! As the name suggests, this helps to improve the brightness of teeth in a simple, quick and non-invasive way, and is quite affordable too.
There are three ways to go about this – in-chair whitening at our clinic, take-home whitening trays and standard whitening kits available at most stores. The last option is the least recommended, both in terms of safety and efficacy. We recommend take-home whitening kits that are customised for the specific degree of whitening required, and designed to fit your teeth perfectly. These are not only safer, but also give better results as compared to all the other options in our experience.
2. Porcelain Veneers
Considered as a gold standard in cosmetic dentistry, porcelain veneers are super thin porcelain shells that are permanently fixed over your existing teeth. These can help hide or cover imperfections such as heavily stained teeth that regular whitening cannot fix. Apart from this, they can also be used in the case of injured, cracked or even mildly crowded teeth, and to cover up small gaps between teeth. But over and above these cosmetic benefits, porcelain veneers are sometimes used to protect a weak tooth from further damage.
What makes porcelain veneers such a popular choice with our cosmetic dentist in Mount Waverley, is the fact that they can completely mimic the look of natural teeth, and are durable and stain resistant. This means that with the right care, your veneers can last for a long, long time to come.
3. Composite veneers
Composite veneers, also known as dental bonding, refers to the process in which resin composite is applied directly onto the surface of a tooth. Unlike veneers, which are customised and prepared prior to application, dental bonding is customised post application, once the resin hardens and dries.
The cosmetic concerns that can be corrected by this procedure are similar to those of porcelain veneers. The only difference is in the method and approach, and the fact that it can be completed in just one visit, unlike veneers, which require multiple sittings. Moreover, they are also comparatively more affordable than veneers. Having said this, they do not offer stain resistance and do not last quite as long. But with good care and maintenance, they could last for as long as a decade too.
With the help of state-of-the-art technology at our beautifully designed clinic, our cosmetic dentists at Mount Waverley have been able to help many patients add more beauty and confidence to their smiles, and we can do that for you too.
